A Vocabulary lesson :

To forgive is : ghafara & saamaha . what is the difference ? ghafara is used when u do a sin and u ask forgivness , That's why in prayers we always say : Allahumma ighfir li ( O Allah forgive me ), ighfir ( إغْفِر) means forgive ,it's a request , and ghafuur ( غَفُورْ) or ghafuurun ,means the one who forgive it's one of the names of Allah ( al ghafuuru ar-rahim ) = the most forgiving ,the most merciful . Forgivness is al-ghufraan ( الغُفران) . Asking forgivness is (talab al-ghufraan) ( طَلَب الغُفْرانْ) . The action of asking forgivness is al-istighfaar ( الاستغفار) . When many people ask forgivness we call them ( al mustaghfiruun المستغفرون) or mustaghfirina it’s same. example from the quran : ( وَالْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِالأَسْحَارِ ) ( wa al mustaghfirina bi al-ashaari ) = and those who seek forgiveness before dawn.(3 :17) , group of women ( al mustaghfiraat المستغفرات) , one man ( al mustaghfir المستغفر) , one woman ( al mustaghfirah المستغفرة) . He forgives = yaghfiru ( يَغْفِرُ) , he forgave = ghafara ( غَفَرَ) .Let's take the example from qur'an : ( إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ] ( inna Allaha yaghfiru adhunuba jami’an inahu huwa alghafuru ar-rahim ) = Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (39:53)

Saamaha ( سَامَحَ) is used with people for example i did something bad to u i tell u saamihni ! ( سَامِحْنيِ) means forgive me , saamihini ( سامحيني ) with girl and saamihunii ( سامحوني ) with group of people .
