Arabic Interrogative:
The rule : To form the interrogative in Arabic you just need to place the word “hal” هل in the beginning of the sentence, easy!
Hal هل means do or does. Hal is used to form direct questions
Does he have a house? = hal ladayhi bayt? هل لديه بيت؟
Do you smoke = hal tudakhهn? هل تدخن؟
Note :
There are other ways to make questions in Arabic using interrogative pronouns, just add them to your sentence and unlike English, in Arabic you don’t need to change the order of the sentence:
What = matha (th pronounced as in that) ex: What do you want? Matha turid? ماذا تريد؟ & madha turidin (if girl)
Who = man من ex: who are you? Man ant? and man anti (if girl) من أنت؟
How = kayfa كيف How are you? Kayfa haaluk? كيف حالك؟ & kayfa haluki ( if girl)
At what time = mataa متى ex: at what time are you coming? Mataa sata’tee? متى ستأتي؟
Where = ayna أين ex: Where are you going? Ayna anta daahib? أين أنت ذاهب؟
From where = men ayna من أين ex:From where did you come? Min ayna atayt? من أين أتيت؟ & min ayna atayti ( for girl)
Which = ayya أيّ ex : Which city? Ayya madina? أيّ مدينة؟
When = mataa متى When are you going to go to be? Mataa satanaam? متى ستنام؟
How much/ many = kam كم ex How much is this book? Kam howa hatha el kitaab? كم هو هذا الكتاب؟
Why = limatha (th pronounced as in that) لماذا
Why are you here? Limatha anta huna? لماذا انت هنا؟
