How to ask questions part 2

The interrogative Pronoun : ( what ? )

what = maa = مَاْ

examples :

* what is this ? = maa haathaa = مَاْ هَذَاْ ؟

*what is this thing? = maa haathaa ashay' = مَاْ هَذَاْ الْشَّيْءُ ؟

*what is your name? = maa ismuka = مَاْ اِسْمُكَ ؟

* what did you say? = maa qult = مَاْ قُلْتَ ؟

*what do you want = maa turidina = مَاْ تُرِيْدِيْنَ ؟

*what is there ? = maa yujad hunaak = مَاْ يُوْجَدُ هُنَاْكَ ؟

2- Maa + thaa : This combination changes nothing, but it is commonly used, especially with verbs

what + this → what . maa + thaa = maathaa , مَاْ + ذَاْ = مَاْذَاْ

Examples:

*what did you say ? = maatha qult = مَاْذَا قُلْتَ ؟

* what do you want ? = maatha turid = مَاْذَا تُرِيد

*what is there ? = maatha yuujad hunak = مَاْذَاْ يُوْجَدُ هُنَاْكَ ؟
